My Background
こんにちは!Welcome to my blog! As you start or continue your journey learning Japanese, I’m thrilled to be here to share not just the language, but also the unique and wonderful culture behind Japanese!
For a bit of background, I was born and raised in Tokyo, one of the most vibrant and culturally rich cities in the world. Growing up here, I’ve been lucky to experience the beauty of Japanese language and culture all around me. This blog will be a place where I share stories, tips, and insights about the joys of learning Japanese.
1. Tokyo’s Vibrant Culture
Tokyo is an amazing city where ancient traditions meet modern marvels. For example, have you ever heard of 「お祭り」(おまつり, omatsuri) festivals? At summer festivals 「お祭り」, you can see people wearing 浴衣 (ゆかた, yukata), a casual summer kimono, and enjoying delicious foods like たこ焼き (たこやき, takoyaki) and かき氷 (かきごおり, kakigōri) shaved ice.
Tokyo is also home to many famous places you may have heard of. Places like 浅草 (あさくさ, Asakusa), known for the impressive Senso-ji Temple, Also there is 渋谷 (しぶや, Shibuya), where the famous Shibuya Crossing is a must-see! If you’re a sports fan, you’ll love 東京ドーム (とうきょうドーム, Tokyo Dome), which hosts baseball games, concerts, and so much more.
2. Japanese Animation and Pop Culture
Another reason I love Japanese is because of the vibrant animation and pop culture that has made Japan famous worldwide. Whether it’s Studio Ghibli films, popular anime series, or manga, Japanese pop culture has a little something for everyone. Since I’m a huge fan of animation myself, I’ll be sharing some posts about my favorite shows and characters, maybe even about how learning Japanese can make watching anime more fun!
If you’re interested in anime too, watching shows with Japanese subtitles is a great way to practice. Even if you’re a beginner, you might catch phrases like “ありがとう” (arigatō, Thank you) and “がんばって” (ganbatte, Do your best)—two words full of positivity and encouragement!
3. Why Japanese is Fun to Learn
Learning Japanese can be challenging, but that’s part of the fun! You get to learn three unique scripts: ひらがな (hiragana), カタカナ (katakana), and 漢字 (かんじ, kanji). In addition, learning Japanese allows you to enjoy a deeper connection with Japanese culture. You can order your favorite food in Japanese, sing along to Japanese songs, or understand cultural nuances that make each interaction special.
If you’re thinking of learning Japanese, remember: it’s a journey that opens up new worlds, connects you to amazing people, and lets you enjoy the beauty of Japanese culture on a deeper level.
